A marketplacestrategy comeswith a curve,not a test

Cryptohopper is a crypto bot platform with templates and a marketplace, priced around $24–107 a month when checked. The question it does not answer is the one that decides whether you keep the money: how was that curve produced.

The question a marketplace curve leaves open

Was it fitted on the window it is shown on?

A strategy optimised over its whole displayed history describes that history. Walk-forward — fit on one window, test on the next, roll — produces a worse number and an honest one, and it is the first thing to ask of any published curve.

What costs were modelled?

Fees at the published rate rather than the effective one, fills at the mid, no slippage, no capture. On one venue we trade, the published schedule says zero for a market where our fills say about 14 basis points round trip — enough to invert a frequent strategy entirely.

Does it read the future?

An indicator on a forming candle, a feature normalised over the whole series, a bar the venue restated later. None of these look like bugs, and all of them produce exactly the results the author hoped for. A strategy here is refused if a truncation audit shows it.

What happened to the ones that failed?

A marketplace shows what worked. Our own strategy search keeps the failures in a runs table with what they scored, which is what stops the same idea being proposed again next quarter — and it is why the two screener ports it started with are recorded as killed rather than quietly dropped.

Where each is stronger

They: getting running fast

Templates, a marketplace and broad exchange support. If the goal is a bot trading tonight, that is a real advantage and this platform does not match it.

They: copy and social

A social layer around strategies, which some people want and which nothing here provides.

Us: the audit

Truncation checks, walk-forward, real fees from fills, and a paper mode that exercises the whole order path.

Us: the record

Every firing, every run, every decision behind every fill — the evidence that lets you judge a strategy on more than its best month.

Questions

Can I import a strategy I bought elsewhere?

You can write it as code here and put it through the audit and the backtester. Whether it survives that is the interesting part, and it is free to find out.

Is a marketplace strategy always bad?

No — but it is unexamined until you examine it. The point of this page is the set of questions, not the verdict.

How current is this?

Category and price band checked September 2026. This page deliberately makes no claim about specific features, which change faster than any comparison page is updated.
